Norman Lowell fined for contempt of court [09/06/2005]
Norman Lowell was fined Lm30 for contempt of court. Mr Lowell did not turn up for a hearing relating to an article published in Maltafly and the beginning of a new case related to racial comments passed during a public meeting. [Times of Malta, Breaking News]

Stormin' Norman has been arraigned in court for racial comments as well as for an article published in Maltafly. He has been fined a miserly Lm30 for not turning up in court. I am convinced he is dying to be put behind bars and thus raise his cause for martyrdom. All those sorry men and women who look up to this man would then be definitely hypnotised by his calls for action - it is the last cherry he needs in order to be able to write his own Mein Kampf from behind the imaginary iron curtain.

I wonder whether he is allowed to choose his jail companions if he ever ends up there. Or whether he will be served up with a couple of violent specimen of the kind he occasionally attacks in his frequent exercises in oratorial comedy.

Norm, you've made us laugh, you've shaken whatever you have to shake. Now go home and paint... you are not a politician.

Now go home and paint... you are not a politician.

For that matter, he's not even a painter.

Jacques, you're offending painters!

just because i told him to go home and paint it does not mean i like his paintings. but at least at home no one is bothered.

I too will fight for anyone's right to speak. I just find the people who cannot see through NL rather sad.

Oh Land of Milk and honey!

Jacques,

I forgot to tell you, next to "align=right" in the 'img' tag, put in also "hspace=10 vspace=10" so that the text doesn't appear so close to the picture.

Hmmm I think there's a difference between freedom of speech and what Norman says. He is definitely abusing of his rights and is guilty of inciting racial hatred. So why shouldn't he be punished?

thanks twanny!
see you soon!

He is not a politician (and neither a painter)...

But in his absence, who is supposed to address the immigration problem from a realistic (albeit exaggerated at times) point of view? By realistic, I am excluding the Church's views, I'm sorry.

I also find it funny that he is to be arraigned in court over that particular meeting... where his speech (which I listened to on the video) was perhaps one of the most 'neutral'. (!)

While I cannot fathom his ideas of a united Europe and cannot consider myself to be a believer of his surreal plans (I don't really care for wild boars running around), I still think there is something wrong with his prosecution. Why did they take five months to prosecute him? Is it just a coincidence that the immigration season is just about to begin? Why silence him and not let him make a fool of himself and 'self-destruct', if the government (and many others) really believe that what NL has to say on the immigration problem is simply crap and absurd?

Just some food for thought.

I think the abortion issue is the current red herring.

Haha, the Big Sleep technique, the television (especially the program Sa Tkun Int li Tivvotalna) takes care of that... I think it's called "Hypnopedia"... :-)

Hazevi,
Since when has Malta been an igneous rock? As any fool can tell you, Malta is comprised chiefly of limestone, Globigerina and Coralline constituting the bulk thereof. You must be confusing it with the Aeolian Islands, though heaven only knows why.

Well, describing something as a petrified fossil strikes as something of a redundancy, but if you do want to force a metaphor on the debate, you may wish to use the correct geological classification of the Maltese islands; namely sedentary.

When we become the New York (discrimination lawsuits for not being promoted + schools favoring whites) of the Med, where will we go? Oh, Djibouti. Seriously, be realistic, (fuck the Roman Catholic Church of Horse Shyt) these so called refugees are full of shyt. If they really were refugees, by all means, let them in. My forefathers didn't just take a boat across the pond and sneak into the once mighty and great US-admittedly admission standards were much more lax. Not saying Maltese don't do it, but if you look at 60% of AA they all live off welfare sporting the latest fashions, technology, etc. At least people here claim welfare and work at the same time. One more point. Maybe we should take a cue from Holland. What makes us think we can rectify the problems (integration) that they have been unable to rectify? We can't. These people don't want to integrate in a culture (not like W. + Eastern Europeans in the 1st half of the 20th century who were fleeing religious and political and economic hardships) not their own (Mexicans in the U.S.).
