Speaking in Palermo at the IVth National Conference against drugs, the executive director of the UN Office against Drug & Crime (Antonio Maria Costa) reveled for the first time that the Netherlands has finally succumbed to international pressure and will be closing its infamous Coffee Shop businesses in the immediate future. Mr Costa said that coffee shops violate international conventions and reiterated that their supplies take place through illegal channels. The Netherlands had already begun to see a decline in the business but this new EU inspired measure will definitely be the final stroke.
